The perfect walk?

Is there such a thing as the perfect walking speed?

I work in a café located in a busy shopping mall. When there's nothing constructive to do, you tend to end up looking at all the people walking by.

Today that happened, and my mind started to wander. I had an interesting thought: how fast do you have to walk before people think you are in some sort of hurry, and how slow do you have to walk before people think you have no goals in life? Or... How slow or fast do you have to walk so that no one thinks about it at all?

I have a lot of theories about this. It all depends on the environment around you. If you are in, let's say, a shopping mall, it's not considered strange to walk slowly. Maybe you're looking for something special in a store, or maybe you're just window shopping. But if you're at an airport on the other hand, a slow walk is kinda weird! The activities you can find yourself doing at an airport is either walking to a gate, walking from a gate, standing still and waiting to pick up your luggage, or sitting on your butt waiting to walk in a relatively fast pace to your gate. This all sounds like an answer to my question...

BUT after thinking about this a lot I ask myself again: Is there a perfect walking speed for every occasion? Can you walk in the same pace when you're window shopping, or catching a flight, and if you can, how fast is that?

I might not be able to sleep tonight.

Peace and love.
